Adult Winter Reads: January and February 2020

Winter is the perfect time to pick up a book (or audiobook) and get lost in a good read! Our theme for Adult Winter Reads is Armchair Travel: Reading Around the World. Stop in to check out travel-related titles, win prizes, attend programs, have fun and explore! As in past years, you may submit a title you have read, which acts as an entry for a drawing. Prizes are book bundles and world globe paper lanterns. You may also place a dot on the world maps installed at the library to show the settings of the books you are reading, or where you have recently traveled.

Join us for two Armchair Travel programs:

Armchair Travel Book Talk
Wednesday, February 12, 6:30- 7:30 PM
Join us on February 12 for our Armchair Travel Book Talk. Bring your favorite travel title to talk about and share with the group. This includes both nonfiction books (travel books, memoirs, and historical exploration) and fiction books set in locations around the world. You may discover new locations to venture to – by plane or by book!

Travel Adventures and Food
Wednesday, February 26, 6:30 – 7:30 PM
Enhance your winter armchair travel reading with travel adventure stories and a sample of an international recipe.  We will hear stories and see photos from two former Peace Corps volunteers: Abbey Weiler, who volunteered in Thailand from 2017 – 2019, and Joshua Koepp, who volunteered in Guinea from 2016 – 2019.  River Market Co-op will provide samples and discuss a recipe from our international cookbook collection.  Registration will help us know how much food to prepare.

Submit your book title online.
