Before You Give
Please contact the library to discuss the nature of your gift or donation and before bringing materials to the library. Please contact Youth Services Librarian, Angie Petrie, for gifts to the children’s collection. For all other gifts, please contact Lynne Bertalmio, Library Director. If we cannot accept your donation, we may be able to suggest another recipient. Gifts to the library are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Upon request, we will give a receipt listing the number of items donated, however we cannot give you an evaluation for tax purposes.
Gifts of Money
Stillwater Public Library appreciates outright gifts, memorials, and honorariums.
The Athena Fund is the Stillwater Public Library endowed fund for books, electronic resources, and multimedia materials created at the St. Croix Valley Foundation. This fund is designed to help ensure the long-term vitality of the library’s collections and services. Your gift to the Athena Fund will be invested and the interest will support the library in its mission to serve the life-long learning needs of our community.
Birthday Books and Other Memorials
Say “Happy Birthday” to a loved one or friend with a book donation to the library! Select a type of book and we’ll order the book for the collection, add a bookplate to it, and send your birthday greeting to the recipient. Your gift is tax deductible. Print off a Birthday Book Form or stop by the library and pick up a form at the Information Center.
If you would like to donate a book for a different memorial purpose, please contact Lynne Bertalmio, Library Director.
Donations of Books and Other Materials
Stillwater Public Library appreciates donations of used (or new) books and other materials for the library collections. Donated materials must meet the same standards of selection as items purchased by the library. Items should be current and in like-new condition. Please package all materials in boxes or bags that can be left with the donation. We cannot return boxes or bags. For more information, see: FAQs About Donating Materials to SPL
The Friends of SPL sponsor two large, used book sales each year, and maintain an ongoing sale area in the library year ’round. Sale receipts go to support library collections and programs. Criteria for donations to the book sales are set by the Friends. Friends will announce when they are accepting donations for their book sales and provide criteria for acceptable materials. For more information, contact the Friends at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pencil and Pen Donations
The library can always use donations of unneeded pens and pencils. Library users make use of them for a variety of note-taking purposes and other uses. Please bring items to the Information Center.
The library collects used Legos to have on hand for special children’s programming. If you have Legos looking for a new home, please consider donating them to the library. Drop them off at the Information Center.
